Abstract
En la primavera de 1949, y a propuesta de varios países de América Latina, se reabrió en las Naciones Unidas el caso de la controvertida Spanish question, hecho éste que advertía de las dificultades para resolver el problema de la dos Españas: la franquista y la republicana del exilio. Para la ocasión, el debate giró en torno a la discutida resolución del 12 de diciembre de 1946, que recomendaba la retirada de los representantes diplomáticos de Madrid. Tras varios días de intensas discusiones se pudo comprobar que el régimen franquista seguía siendo el eje de la discordia en la ONU y, muy especialmente, entre la comunidad de países de América Latina. De la posición política de las delegaciones latinoamericanas y de sus argumentaciones versará el presente artículo.
